Cryofab Inc., manufacturer of cryogenic dewars and vessels, and owner of Cryocomp Valves, has named Michael Capers as Managing Director for the new cryogenic valves business unit. Mr. Capers, formerly employed by Scientific Instruments (SI) Inc.

Primetals Technologies received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) from Borusan Mannesmann Pipe US for a heat treatment plant installed in the company´s new electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe mill in Baytown, Texas, USA.

Bashneft and Emerson Process Management have signed a long-term Memorandum of Cooperation on the development of systems for comprehensive automation of industrial facilities. The document was signed by Bashneft President, Alexander Korsik and Vice President of Emerson Process Management and Director General of LLC Emerson, Nikolay Shestakov.

AREVA has signed a contract with the Brazilian utility Eletrobrás Eletronuclear (ETN) for approximately EUR 75M to supply additional mechanical and electrical equipment to the Angra 3 nuclear power plant.

The T39 Series is a family of cost-effective standard industrial gas pressure regulators, offering precision monitoring and control within control valve supply, instrumentation column, air set, downstream, low-flow and other general-purpose applications.

SSP introduced the new EB series Encapsulated Ball Valve with features such as a blowout-proof stem to improve safety, and one-piece packing – in all sizes – that ensure reliable and representative samples.

Swagelok Company’s new VB05 series process interface valves are designed with increased leak-tight capabilities to deliver greater reliability in applications with fugitive emission reduction standards.

The programme included four ‘blocks’, ranging from the traditional presentations (installed base tool, wireless HART, and how to capture and use data), to a walk through the workshop (with stop-off points along the way to discuss safety, smart tools during repairs, diagnostics and quick deliveries), to a round-table discussion on shutdowns to a knowledge sharing session. All these components were very interactive, and delegates were quick to share thoughts and ideas with the presenters and also with their peers from other companies. Indeed, Valve World’s very informal survey showed that this element – being able to interact with colleagues, and learn from each other’s experiences – was seen as exceptionally valuable by the delegates. Further helping to encourage dialogue between delegates were the well-catered coffee and lunch breaks, for which Fabricom had cleared out its entire overhead storage area. The day concluded with a humorous yet passionate presentation by well-known Belgian politician Marc van Peel, who discussed the past, present and future of the Harbour at Antwerp.

French company Schneider Electric, is the current front runner to bid for control of UK engineering company Ivensys with a reported bid of USD 5B.
