Chevron suspends drilling offshore Brazil
Chevron Corp has reported that while its subsidiary, Chevron Brasil Upstream Frade Ltda., has not received formal notice from Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) suspending its drilling license, the company has voluntarily suspended its current and future drilling operations, offshore Brazil.
Statoil and partners to explore offshore Newfoundl
Chevron Canada and Repsol E&P Canada partnering with Statoil have successfully bid for exploration rights on two land parcels in the Flemish Pass Basin, offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Statoil already has a presence in the area, at its Mizzen discovery in the Flemish Bass Basin east of the new parcels.
Safer subsea wellhead being developed
Plexus Holdings is partnering with four major oil and gas companies to develop and commercialise a new and safer subsea wellhead, HGSS. Consulting partners included in Plexus’s Joint Industry Project are Maersk Oil North Sea UK, Shell International Exploration and Production, Wintershall Noordzee, and oil and gas technology solution consultancy SafeKick.
FMC sets deepwater completion record
The enhanced vertical deepwater tree (EVDT) system from FMC Technologies recently set a new deepwater completion record of 9627 feet at the Shell-operated Tobago field, part of the Perdido development located in the Gulf of Mexico.
