Hess to exit refining business with terminal netwo

Hess Corporation has announced that it will pursue the sale of its terminal network in the United States. Hess also announced that it will complete its exit from the refining business by closing its Port Reading, New Jersey refinery. “By closing the Port Reading refinery and selling our terminal network, Hess will complete its transformation from an integrated oil and gas company to one that is predominantly an exploration and production company and be able to redeploy substantial additional capital to fund its future growth opportunities,” said John Hess, Chairman and CEO. The terminal network is located along the U.S.

ASCO Numatics introduce direct acting solenoid val

ASCO Numatics have introduced two intrinsically safe solenoid valves with Ex ia IIC T6 certification. The solenoid operators are designed for use on the 327 range of direct operated solenoid valves and are available in epoxy coated aluminium or stainless steel.

API, AOPL see flaws in pipeline studies

The American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL) have expressed reservations about findings in recent third-party studies that the federal government will consider in potential new mandates for leak detection systems and shutoff valves for pipelines. The Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job Creation Act of 2011 required PHMSA to provide Congress with reports on pipeline leak detection systems and automatic and remotely controlled valves.

US valve manufacturer, Val-Matic have introduced their AWWA Swing Check Valve which is said to incorporate design features in order to provide energy savings, ease of maintenance and extended valve life.

Trainer Refinery Lost $63 Million

Trainer, the Delta Air Lines owned oil refinery had a $63 million loss in November and December caused by Hurricane Sandy.
