VMA report projects continued employment growth
The valve industry employs 50% more people than a decade ago, and it is expecting to add more jobs this year, according to the Employment Snapshot Report presented by the Valve Manufacturers Association (VMA) during a briefing at its 75th Anniversary Annual Meeting.
The Report is based on a survey of VMA member companies, including nearly 100 North American manufacturers of valves, actuators and controls.

ICA Fluor to build VCM plant in Mexico
Fluor Corporation’s ICA Fluor industrial engineering-construction joint venture with Empresas ICA signed a contract with Petroquimica Mexicana de Vinilo (PMV), a joint venture between Mexichem, the Mexican petrochemical company, and Pemex, Mexico’s state-owned oil and gas company, for the revamp of the vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant located within the Pajaritos petrochemical complex, near Veracruz.

BP appoints new head of exploration
BP named Richard Herbert as its new head of exploration. Herbert will succeed Mike Daly who has chosen to retire from BP at the end of 2013 after a career of 28 years with the company, eight leading BP’s exploration function.
