January manufacturing tech. orders down

The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) has reported that the January 2015 US manufacturing technology orders totaled $341.17 million. This number is down 32.9 percent from December’s $508.

Crude exports key to US success

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has reported that during a recent house energy hearing, lawmakers were considering more ways to move toward lifting US trade restrictions on crude oil this year. “The US energy revolution has transformed the global landscape, creating countless economic opportunities for American workers and consumers,” said API Executive Vice President for Government Affairs Louis Finkel.

Ottawa proposing more valve protection for tanks

Canada’s capital of Ottawa is proposing long-awaited new standards for rail cars carrying crude oil in a bid to limit a rash of fiery derailments across the country. Transport Canada unveiled a proposal Wednesday that would require tank cars used to haul crude oil and other flammable goods to meet new standards that include thicker steel, thermal protection, full shields at each end and more protection over the valves by 2025 at the latest.

Victaulic wins 2015 workplace award

The Pennsylvania-based Victaulic, the mechanical pipe joining solutions and grooved pipe joining systems, has received the top workplace award for 2015 bestowed by the Morning Call newspaper.

Kevin Hunt, president of ValvTechnologies, the manufacturer of zero-leakage severe service isolation valve solutions, announced the appointment of Elvis Gonzalez as the director of Manufacturing Operations.

DNV GL winner at global risk awards

Canada’s Petrochemical industry on the rise

The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) is forecasting that Canada’s industrial chemical sector will experience a big increase in capital expenditures in 2015. This also means that there will be a larger demand for commodities like valves.

A.W. Chesterton Company has launched its 1724 Low E Sealing System that adheres to both and control valve stem sealing requirements to meet the latest US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) consent decrees for “Low E” valve packings.

Okeanus to represent MacArtney in Brazil

The MacArtney Group signed a representative agreement with Okeanus to function as the official representative of MacArtney underwater technology products on the Brazilian market. Following similar deals signed with companies Cledirsa (Uruguay) and Alakaluf (Chile), the agreement with Okeanus marks the third South American company in MacArtney's global representative network in the last six months.

Global hydraulic valve actuator market to grow

The Market Research Store has released a new report entitled Global Hydraulic Valve Actuators Market 2015-2019. The new publication predicts that the market will grow at a CAGR of 4.85 percent during the period 2015 to 2019.
