Pembina Pipeline Corporation announced that it will provide terminalling services for the North West Redwater Partnership (North West) with respect to North West's planned Sturgeon Refinery. The company also announced that it has entered into agreements to construct a new pipeline lateral in the Karr area of Alberta (the Karr Lateral) to service growing production from the Montney resource play.

Hess Corporation has announced that it will pursue the sale of its terminal network in the United States. Hess also announced that it will complete its exit from the refining business by closing its Port Reading, New Jersey refinery. “By closing the Port Reading refinery and selling our terminal network, Hess will complete its transformation from an integrated oil and gas company to one that is predominantly an exploration and production company and be able to redeploy substantial additional capital to fund its future growth opportunities,” said John Hess, Chairman and CEO. The terminal network is located along the U.S.

Trainer Refinery Lost $63 Million

Trainer, the Delta Air Lines owned oil refinery had a $63 million loss in November and December caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Marathon Petroleum buys BP mega-refinery

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase BP's 451,000 barrel per calendar day (475,000 barrel per stream day) Texas City refinery, three intrastate NGL pipelines originating at the refinery, an allocation of BP's Colonial Pipeline Company shipper history, four terminals, retail marketing contract assignments for approximately 1,200 branded sites and a 1,040 megawatt cogeneration (cogen) facility.

Valero suspending operations at Aruba refinery

Due to inadequate margins resulting in financial losses, Valero Energy Corp. is suspending operations at its Aruba refinery. Valero, a Texas-based independent oil refiner, acquired the 235,000bpd refinery in 2004 and is considering operating a terminal and storage facility at the site.

Petrobas extends PDVSA refinery deadline

Brazil’s Petrobas has allowed its Venezuelan state oil company counterpart PDVSA to extend the deadline to make its contribution to the long delayed Abreu e Lima refinery project in northeast Brazil.

Tesoro to sell Hawaii operations

Tesoro Corp., the San Antonio, Texas-based refiner announced its plans to auction off its operation in Hawaii which includes 32 retail stations, the Kapolei refinery and all related assets. The Kapolei refinery which makes gasoline, jet fuel, ship fuel, diesel, asphalt and fuel oil for electrical generation can process 94,000 bpd.
