Metso wins large contract for valves in Brazil

Metso and Arcelor Mittal Tubarão, located in Espirito Santo State, Brazil, have signed a service contract covering approximately 2000 automatic and safety valves. The contract also includes intelligent tools for preventive and predictive maintenance and maintenance planning activities.

Siemens has appointed Paulo Ricardo Stark to serve as its new CEO in Brazil. Stark is a native of Brazil. He is an electrical engineer with wide-ranging international experience. Lanxess investing in Brazil

Germany-based Lanxess, a specialty chemicals company, is investing in two new plants in Porto Feliz where it will produce plastics and rubber additives. These two plants will be built on company’s current site and will be part of what it plans to be a specialty chemicals hub.

Cameron signs subsea contract with Petrobras

Petrobras has renewed its CAMSERV aftermarket services contract with Cameron in support of developments offshore Brazil. This agreement is a continuation to the contract previously signed in 2007. The agreement will be managed from Cameron’s service center in Macae and the facility will support Petrobras operations with inspection, maintenance, repair and remanufacturing, storage and offshore installation services.

Initec to build gas-fired plant in Brazil

Initec Energia has secured a $364 million contract from MPX Energia to construct a 500MW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in Maranhao, Brazil. The project is expected to begin commercial operations in 2014, reports Bloomberg.

Excelerate Energy awards VT3 contract

DSME has been selected by Excelerate Energy to build a new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to be utilized by Petrobras, which has designated the ship VT3. Said to be the largest vessel of its kind, the vessel will deliver 20 million cum/day of natural gas to the Southeast Region of Brazil.

New wastewater treatment plant in Brazil

Brazilian construction company Amafi Comercial e Construtora has been awarded a contract to build a wastewater treatment plant in the city of Franco da Rocha for São Paulo state water utility Sabesp.

Petrobras officer named Brazil CFO of the Year

Petrobras' CFO and Investor Relations officer, Almir Guilherme Barbassa, was named the 2010 CFO of the Year in Brazil, in the Expansion category by Latin Trade, a pan-regional business publication in Latin America and the Caribbean.
