Lanxess investing in Brazil

Germany-based Lanxess, a specialty chemicals company, is investing in two new plants in Porto Feliz where it will produce plastics and rubber additives. These two plants will be built on company’s current site and will be part of what it plans to be a specialty chemicals hub. Production of the specialty plastics engineered for the automotive industry is expected to start in 2013, while the rubber additives plant is expected to go on line in 2012. The new plant will be built in Triunfo. It will be a re-engineering plant which will produce up to 10,000 mt/yr of EPDM rubber from bio-based ethylene. Production is expected to commence in November of 2011.
