Waste to energy plant emerging in Mexico

The city of Saltillo, Mexico, is the site of a new waste-to-energy plant that will begin construction in November, 2011. Early in September, a consortium including Eco Energía Renovables, Canromex, Guascor de México, Colibrí Capital, Biogás y Energía, Desarrollo de Proyectos de Energía Renovables, and Desarrollo Ecoambiental de México was awarded the contract for what will initially be a 2MW plant.

Greene’s Energy acquires Pro-Valve Services

Greene’s Energy Group (GEG) has acquired the assets of Houma, LA based Pro-Valve Services, Inc. The acquisition will broaden the after-market production valve services provided by GEG’s Wellhead and Valve division.

Larox Flowsys changes name

Larox Flowsys has changed its name to Flowrox. The new name has been taken into use and the new visual outlook will replace the existing gradually by January 1st, 2012. The company’s location, phone numbers and the VAT number remain the same.

Technip contracted for fertilizer complex in Brazi

Within the framework of a cooperation partnership with Haldor Topsoe, Technip has been awarded a contract for providing basic and front end engineering services on a Petrobras grassroots fertilizer complex to be located in Minas State, Brazil.

Biodiesel plant to utilize used vegetable oil

U.S.-based Greenleaf Biofuels is constructing its first biodiesel project, a 10 million gal/yr plant. The plant will utilize waste vegetable oil in a 10 million gallon per year (mgy) biodiesel plant located in New Haven, Connecticut.

Drilling ban in NY town challenged

Natural gas company Anshutz Exploration has sued the town of Dryden in central New York in an effort to strike down a recent zoning law prohibiting gas drilling there. While New York State is considering whether to allow hydraulic fracturing, more than a dozen municipalities have enacted gas-drilling bans or restrictions.

Metso boiler going to biomass plant in Wisconsin

Metso Corp will supply a biomass boiler to the We Energies/Domtar Biomass Energy Project owned by We Energies. The boiler is a key component of a new biomass-fueled cogeneration power plant which will be located at the Domtar Mill in Rothschild, Wisconsin.

Rolls-Royce has acquired R Brooks Associates. Brooks is a market leader in secondary steam generator inspections in the US and has a well established presence in France.
