MRC appoints James F. Underhill

McJunkin Red Man Holding Corp. (MRC) has appointed James F. Underhill as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – North America and James E. Braun as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Lanxess investing in Brazil

Germany-based Lanxess, a specialty chemicals company, is investing in two new plants in Porto Feliz where it will produce plastics and rubber additives. These two plants will be built on company’s current site and will be part of what it plans to be a specialty chemicals hub.

Alberta oil sands projects expanding

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc has received new contracts from seven clients in the Alberta Oil Sands to support steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and bitumen upgrading expansion projects. Officials estimate the combined total construction value of the awarded projects at more than $1.

Curtiss-Wright acquires South Bend Controls

Curtiss-Wright Corp has acquired the assets of South Bend Controls for $10 million. South Bend Controls is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly engineered, solenoid-based components used in critical applications serving the aerospace and defense, industrial and medical markets, and had sales of approximately $8 million in 2010.

ASCO Numatics recently announced the recipients of the 2011 ASCO Numatics Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarships. John R. Frazier of Louisville, Kentucky, and Collin P. Veele of Grand Haven, Michigan, will each receive a $5000 scholarship.

Fluor Corp has been awarded a contract by North West Redwater Partnership to provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for a new refinery project in Alberta, Canada.

ASCO introduces SS pilot valves for offshore

ASCO Numatics recently introduced the 361 series of stainless steel pilot valves featuring a unique design that eliminates “sticking” problems in low cycle demand applications. These problems can occur in control valves installed in the pneumatic logic panels used to control safety monitoring systems in offshore oil and gas production facilities.

Bray and Shell sign global agreement

Shell and Bray executive teams have signed a five-year global Enterprise Framework Agreement (EFA) that identifies Bray International as a supplier of more than 2500 line items of Bray (resilient and Teflon® seated), McCannaLok (high performance/double offset) and Tri Lok (triple offset) butterfly products and related services.

New back pressure valves introduced

Primary Fluid Systems Inc has introduced a new line of diaphragm style back pressure valves and pressure relief valves. The features of the new Top Valve line include a completely adjustable pressure range of 15-150 psig and a built-in air release to reduce priming difficulties with metering pumps.
