New steam turbine for geothermal plants
During the GEA Geothermal Energy Expo in San Diego, U.S.A., Siemens Energy unveiled a new steam turbine, SST-400 GEO, for geothermal power plants. The 60MW turbine combines the Siemens SST-400 steam turbine package with the steam path technologies developed, tested and applied by the steam turbine service provider TurboCare.

Siemens has appointed Paulo Ricardo Stark to serve as its new CEO in Brazil. Stark is a native of Brazil. He is an electrical engineer with wide-ranging international experience. His work for Siemens includes stints in Mexico and in several positions in Germany, where he most recently headed a Business Unit in the company's Industry Sector.

Tyco Flow Control continues expansion
Tyco Valves and Controls, a unit of Tyco Flow Control, has opened a new Project Management Center and expanded operations at its oil and gas headquarters in Houston, Texas. The Houston Project Management Center will work in coordination with two existing centers in the United Kingdom and Singapore, providing customers with a single point of contact from Tyco Valves and Controls for the duration of their projects.
