(MPSA) said the first commercial M501GAC gas turbine has been shipped from the Savannah Machinery Works in Georgia, just 18 months after the USD 325M gas turbine manufacturing and service facility was dedicated.The shipment marks the first of three M501GAC gas turbines and one steam turbine that will be delivered to Dominion Virginia Power for the 1,300MW Warren County Power Station in Front Royal, Va.Earlier this year, MPSA received a second order from Dominion to supply three gas turbines and one steam turbine for the Brunswick County Power Station in southern Virginia.
With construction of the 630 MW, integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) Edwardsport power plant in Indiana virtually complete, testing is under way to prepare for commercial operations next year, Duke Energy said.The plant has successfully produced electricity using natural gas, and the next phase is testing the coal-gasification equipment.
