Furmanite acquires Crane’s Houston Service Center

Furmanite Corporation, a large provider of valve services, has acquired certain assets and operations of Crane Energy Flow Solutions' Houston Service Center.

Seadrill constructing drillships for major operato

  Seadrill has a commitment for contracts with an unnamed major oil company. The contracts will cover three drillships over 19 rig years with a possible value of USD$4 billion.

Israel/El Salvador alliance for wave technology

El Salvador's El Esplendor Development Corp and Israel's SDE Wave Power Plants company have formed an alliance to execute Wave Power Technology in California and El Salvador.   SDE is a leader in planning, building and marketing power stations that produce power from ocean waves.

CB&I to acquire Shaw

   Chicago Bridge & Iron has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Shaw Group. Shaw Group is a Fortune 500 company, primarily servicing customers in the power generation and the government services sector.

Curtiss-Wright awarded energy management grant

Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company's Cheswick, PA-based EMD business unit has been awarded a USD$25,000 grant from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) sponsored Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program.

Oil States to acquire Piper Valve Systems

Oil States International Inc. subsidiary Oil States Industries Inc. has entered into a definitive asset purchase agreement to acquire Piper Valve Systems Ltd.   Oklahoma City, OK-based Piper Valve Systems designs and manufactures hig-pressure valves and manifold components for offshore, onshore and subsea oil and gas projects.

PNNL receives $1million nuclear research grant

As part of a Department of Energy (DOE) initiative to help restart the United States' nuclear industry, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has been awarded almost USD$1 million. To help improve reactor safety, performance and cost competitiveness and to help solve challenges in the nuclear industry, DOE awarded USD$10.

Jacobs awarded contract from Braskem

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced it has been selected to provide professional technical services for Braskem, the largest thermoplastic resin producer in the Americas, at portions of the Marcus Hook Refinery they recently acquired, near Philadelphia, Pa.

Westinghouse prepares bid for Darlington

Westinghouse will prepare detailed construction plans and cost estimates for two potential AP1000 reactors at Ontario Power Generation's (OPG's) Darlington site. "The plans and estimates would provide significant input in helping the Province of Ontario determine the baseload generation option that is best for Ontario's ratepayers," Westinghouse said. Westinghouse Americas president Joe Zwetolitz said that the company "is pleased to participate in the province's information-gathering process." The company has also opened an office in Toronto to better serve the Canadian market. Some 100 Canadian suppliers currently provide a wide range of products and services for the Westinghouse product lines, the company said.
