The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) has reported that the January 2015 US manufacturing technology orders totaled $341.17 million. This number is down 32.9 percent from December’s $508.

Crude exports key to US success

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has reported that during a recent house energy hearing, lawmakers were considering more ways to move toward lifting US trade restrictions on crude oil this year. “The US energy revolution has transformed the global landscape, creating countless economic opportunities for American workers and consumers,” said API Executive Vice President for Government Affairs Louis Finkel.

Ottawa proposing more valve protection for tanks

Canada’s capital of Ottawa is proposing long-awaited new standards for rail cars carrying crude oil in a bid to limit a rash of fiery derailments across the country. Transport Canada unveiled a proposal Wednesday that would require tank cars used to haul crude oil and other flammable goods to meet new standards that include thicker steel, thermal protection, full shields at each end and more protection over the valves by 2025 at the latest.

The Pennsylvania-based Victaulic, the mechanical pipe joining solutions and grooved pipe joining systems, has received the top workplace award for 2015 bestowed by the Morning Call newspaper.
