Alberta look to B.C. energy opportunities

As the president of Prism Flow Products, supplying valves to Alberta oil and gas pipelines, pumping stations and other energy infrastructure, Terry O’Flynn, who is also chairman of Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG), is hoping the company’s current efforts to enhance the communication between Alberta and B.C. business people will lead to an appreciation of the importance of getting Canada’s products to west coast ports.

O’Flynn will be in attendance at Canada Connects: British Columbia, an event being held in early November in Vancouver, aimed at fostering an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities for business leaders in B.C. and Alberta. The event is set to include business leaders from both B.C. and Alberta and will focus on business opportunities in the province, as well as various impediments to resource development.

According to O’Flynn, it’s important for Alberta businesses to reach out to their neighbours in B.C., where opposition to oil and gas pipelines is frustrating to Alberta business people so reliant on the oil and gas sector. Especially now, with the prospect of several liquid natural gas (LNG) export projects being built on the west coast, the two provinces have a great deal in common.
