J.R. Merit wins butterfly valve contract

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract worth $3.6 million to J.R. Merit Inc. for the supply of replacement penstock butterfly valves to be used at the 49-MW Lost Creek hydropower project on Oregon’s Rouge River.
The Corps’ Portland District most recently called for bids for the work this past September, after holding a pre-solicitation conference to supply wicket gate seals back in 2013.
Details of the contract include J.R. Merit removing two 10.5-foot-diameter penstock butterfly valves and appurtenances, hydraulic power unit and controls; and fabricating, assembling and installing two new valves and other equipment.
