Technip awarded Mad Dog Phase 2 contract

BP Exploration and Production Inc. has awarded Technip with a front end engineering design contract. The contract includes the design of a Spar hull and mooring systems for the Mad Dog Phase 2 project which is located near Green Canyon Block 825 in the Gulf of Mexico.

This first award comes under the ten year Spar platform master services agreement that was signed in 2011. The new Mad Dog Phase 2 Spar will be located near the Mad Dog Spar that was delivered by Technip for BP in 2004 and installed on Green Canyon Block 782.

The detailed engineering for the new Spar is expected to commence in the second half of this year. The contract will be executed by Technip’s Houston, Texas operating center with support from the center in Pori, Finland.
