Westlake Geismar plant restarts

Westlake Chemical Corporation has announced the safe and successful repair and restart of its vinyl chloride monomer unit at its facility in Geismar, Louisiana that was damaged by fire in March. The site is now fully operational with the restart of this unit.

Westlake is cooperating with law enforcement and environmental authorities such as the EPA, OSHA and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality in the investigation into the factors that contributed to the fire that caused the damage. As production resumes, the company is working with suppliers and customers to lessen the impact of the outage and ensure that their needs are met.
