ValvTechnologies, Inc. announced the appointment of Mark Abbott as Director of Engineering.
Based in Houston, Abbott will have global management responsibility for all ValvTechnologies’ Engineering groups and activities worldwide. He will lead research and development, product development and design, manufacturing, production and application engineering, as well as spearheading engineering process continuous improvement and product standardization programs. His appointment serves to integrate the engineering value stream between the sales order and operations so ValvTechnologies can better serve its customers.
Abbott joined ValvTechnologies in June 2016 as Product Engineering and Design Manager, later adding the Nuclear Engineering role to his responsibilities. With more than 17 years of experience, Abbott was Engineering Manager within Schlumberger’s Completions Division, responsible for well construction equipment. Prior to that role, he led Flowserve’s Durco product design team and worked as a Research Engineer and a Senior Drilling Engineer for ExxonMobil.
Abbott holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech. He is a Professional Engineer (PE), licensed in the states of Texas and Tennessee.
“Mark’s strong product development knowledge and expertise in managing noteworthy projects makes him an influential member of our team,” said ValvTechnologies’ President, Kevin Hunt. “We look forward to his contributions and continued leadership within our organization.”
