Zero-leakage, severe service isolation valve solutions manufacturer, ValvTechnologies Inc. Has partnered with MetalTek Energy Products to supply Slovenia based Nuklearna elektrarna Krško, d.o.o with valves and strainers for their Emergency Diesel Generators upgrade project.
The equipment will be an important part of the success of the upgrade of the emergency backup power system of the plant, a system similar to the one that failed at the Fukushima Daiichi Plant in Japan in March 2011 which caused a total blackout of the plant, following damage from the earthquake and tsunami.
Two strainers and 29 valves meeting ASME III Class 3 and 10CRF50 requirements for Safety Related Applications were required by Slovenia’s national nuclear company, in under 12 weeks after receipt of the executable contract. The supply of products meetings such standards generally takes a minimum of delivery time of 26 weeks. The order was shipped on March 31, in time for the Krško ongoing outage, 10.5 weeks after the order was booked.
The gate and globe valves originally called for in specifications were unavailable from ASME suppliers in the required lead-time and an engineering design alteration was needed to accomodate the company’s technology, which was coordinated within the delivery commitment.
