The Cayenne Pipeline, which is a joint venture between American Midstream Partners LP (AMID) and Targa Resources Corp., has been completed and natural gas liquids (NGL) deliveries have already begun.
Cayenne will start out having 40,000 b/d of Y-grade NGL transport capacity with the ability to expand to more than 50,000 b/d. The pipeline originates from the Venice Gas Processing Plant and then delivers to fractionation in Southern Louisiana. The pipeline was acquired from High Point Gas Transmission LLC in 2016 and converted to NGLs from dry natural gas [CP16-474]. The non-jurisdictional work to convert the pipeline included modifying or replacing valves and other appurtenances, as well as the addition of meters and thermal relief devices [CP16-474].
The project begins at the Targa-operating plant near Venice, LA, travels through Plaquemines Parish, LA; passes under the Mississippi River, and continues into St. Bernard Parish to the Toca Gas Processing Plant, which is operated by Enterprise Products Partners LP.
The pipeline is supported by a 15-year dedication for all NGL production from the 750 MMcf/d Venice plant with an inlet from six offshore Gulf of Mexico (GOM) pipelines.
