Throughout the process industries, emission control has become increasingly important in valve selection, seal design and ultimately system reliability. In many cases, the ability of a specific design to prevent leaks to the atmosphere is more important to the plant than class of leakage or control characteristics. Unfortunately, many users and suppliers do not examine the real system requirements and instead rely on industry certifications or ‘Type Testing’ that may or may not address the specific need.
