Valve suppliers often rely on market share estimates to determine their approach to, and plans for, the upcoming fiscal year. In addition to the challenges they face forecasting competitor sales, suppliers also work to define the relevant market niches and the sales within those niches. This process can become more challenging when attempting to determine future markets. As the valve revenue forecast in a niche is a function of a pyramid of market shares, a ‘holistic market share analysis’ is vital.
