Sudbury, a city in Ontario, Canada, is getting a bigger pipeline that will carry natural gas rather than crude oil. Chris Minor, District Manager for northeastern Ontario for Union Gas, said the company is switching out its 10-inch pipe for a more robust 12-inch diameter pipeline that will run 23 km from Coniston to Walden.
The project, which will be installed during the summer months of 2018 when demand for natural gas is at its lowest, is estimated at CAD $63 million and aims to ensure the future supply of safe, reliable, affordable natural gas. In March or April 2017, Union Gas will go to the Ontario Energy Board, who will approve or deny the project.
