Patrick Madden, Mayor of Troy, New York, recently toured Ross Valve Manufacturing Co. (Ross Valve), in the wake of last month’s water main break crisis that left thousands without water for several days. One of the reasons for the mayor’s visit: crews from Ross Valve, a Lansingburgh company that makes industrial valves used in municipal water systems and hydropower plants, helped the city in the wake of the Jan. 17 water main break.
Andrew Ross, Ross Valve’s CEO, said it can be helpful to get a second opinion when trying to fix complex infrastructure problems. “We gave another set of eyes to the (city’s) engineering department and helped them look at the (underground pipe) drawings,” Ross said. “Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees, so we just went and we reviewed drawings with them, and we lent our expertise.”
