Vogtle making good progress
Georgia Power has put back the expected dates for its new units at Vogtle to enter service by several months, although the delay is not currently expected to impact plant costs.
In its most recent semi-annual filing with the Georgia Public Service Commission, Southern Company subsidiary Georgia Power said that it expects Vogtle units 3 and 4 to enter service in November 2016 and November 2017 respectively.
Crane testing begins at Vogtle
Southern Co. said testing has begun on a component in the construction of two new 1,100MW AP1000 nuclear units at Plant Vogtle 3 and 4 – a 560-foot tall heavy lift derrick, one of the biggest cranes in the world.
