Tom Velan, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based Velan Inc., recently announced his plan to retire from his CEO position, effective March 1st, 2017.

Montreal, Quebec-based Velan traditionally offered two versions of bonnetless globe valves: the XB series with a rotating stem and the Z series with a non-rotating stem.

A recent announcement from AIV Europe has confirmed its new partnership with Velan Valves, a valve manufacturer headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Velan announced the appointment of Yves Leduc as the president of the company. Leduc will report to Tom Velan, CEO and formerly president. He will be joining Velan on 26 January 2015. As part of Velan’s leadership succession planning process, a Leadership and Talent Committee of the board of directors was formed and the committee hired Egon Zehnder, an executive search firm, to help with the search for a new president.

Velan has updated its website with a new look and feel and many new features to improve the usability of the site.

Velan Inc. wholly owned subsidiary Velan Valves India Pvt. Ltd. (VVI) located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, opened its new manufacturing plant in December. The opening was celebrated with a special inauguration ceremony, presided over by President and Chief Executive Officer of Velan Inc.

In a contract worth $16.2 million, Velan SAS, Velan Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary located in Lyon, France, has been selected by CNPE (China Nuclear Power Engineering Co, Ltd.) and as a result, the CNEIC (China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation) awarded an important contract to Velan for the supply of nuclear-classified gate and globe valves for the two new nuclear power plants of FuQing Units 3 and 4 located in Fujian province, China.

After 17 years with Velan Valves, Mike Zivic retired at the start of November. As Velan’s VP International Sales, Mike was well-known and highly respected throughout the industry.

Velan has announced that Gino Loggia, International Sales Manager and a Velan team member for over 11 years, has been promoted to Sales Director for South East Asia (SEA), Latin America (LAM), and Middle East and Africa (MEA), plus India and Italy.
