Valve maintenance increases power plant’s output

The Columbia Generating Station located near Richland, Washington is now putting enough electricity on the grid to serve about 40,000 more homes compared to its output five years ago. The difference has been the maintenance and improvements made during its refueling outages.

Kennedy Valve appoints new plant manager

Kennedy Valve has appointed Greg Clarke as the new plant manager. Prior to joining Kennedy, Clarke was the plant manager at Hitchiner Manufacturing’s Littleton New Hampshire facility. He has manufacturing operations and lean systems implementation experience in both metal and finishing operations.

Velan opens India facility

Velan Inc. wholly owned subsidiary Velan Valves India Pvt. Ltd. (VVI) located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, opened its new manufacturing plant in December. The opening was celebrated with a special inauguration ceremony, presided over by President and Chief Executive Officer of Velan Inc.

Tyco opens its largest ball valve plant

Tyco International unit, Tyco Flow Control opened a new state-of-the-art plant in Chengdu, China, the capital of Sichuan Province in May. The plant is part of Tyco's three-year, USD$100 million China-wide investment program, including a China Engineering Center in Shanghai and a high-performance Steam Testing Center in Qingpu.

Exxon Mobil to build U.S. chemical plant

Exxon Mobil Corp. plans to build a multi-billion dollar chemical plant in Texas. Anticipated to be online as early as 2016, the plant would increase Exxon Mobil's chemical production capacity.   North America's largest natural gas producer since the purchase of XTO Energy Inc.
