Waste to energy plant emerging in Mexico
The city of Saltillo, Mexico, is the site of a new waste-to-energy plant that will begin construction in November, 2011. Early in September, a consortium including Eco Energía Renovables, Canromex, Guascor de México, Colibrí Capital, Biogás y Energía, Desarrollo de Proyectos de Energía Renovables, and Desarrollo Ecoambiental de México was awarded the contract for what will initially be a 2MW plant.

Mexico's President Felipe Calderón is replacing energy minister José Antonio Meade with Jordy Herrera, the current director of PGPB, the gas and basic petrochemicals subsidiary of Pemex.

Abengoa is set to construct Mexico's first solar-thermal power plant in Agua Prieta. The facility will be one of the first solar and gas-fired hybrid power plants in the world.
