Charles A. Peters, Senior Executive Vice President at Emerson, with a 40-year career, leading many of the company’s strategic growth and technology innovation initiatives, retired effective December 7, 2015.

Sasol, an international energy and chemical company, has selected Emerson Process Management to help automate its $8.9 billion petrochemical complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana, designed to take advantage of abundant, low cost natural gas.

Emerson Climate Technologies Flow Controls, a business unit of Emerson, launched its new EX3 electronic expansion valve. The EX3 is a stepper-motor driven electronic expansion valve that provides precise mass flow control and high energy efficiency for supermarket showcases and cold rooms with multiple parallel evaporators.

Emerson Process Management has added another electro-hydraulic operator to its valve automation capabilities with the release of the Bettis EHO actuator. The EHO actuator couples proven technologies from Emerson’s Valve Automation offering of actuation and controls to handle critical shutdown situations where dependability is a must.

Emerson Process Management has released the Fisher P700 rotary style actuator for use with Fisher C series internal valves in LP-Gas services.

Emerson Process Management announced the successful first deployment of its Roxar Downhole Wireless PT Sensor System. The new instrument has been deployed as part of the completion on Statoil’s Skuld field in the Norwegian North Sea, where it is measuring online and in real-time pressure and temperature information from behind the casing in the subsea production well.

The programme included four ‘blocks’, ranging from the traditional presentations (installed base tool, wireless HART, and how to capture and use data), to a walk through the workshop (with stop-off points along the way to discuss safety, smart tools during repairs, diagnostics and quick deliveries), to a round-table discussion on shutdowns to a knowledge sharing session. All these components were very interactive, and delegates were quick to share thoughts and ideas with the presenters and also with their peers from other companies. Indeed, Valve World’s very informal survey showed that this element – being able to interact with colleagues, and learn from each other’s experiences – was seen as exceptionally valuable by the delegates. Further helping to encourage dialogue between delegates were the well-catered coffee and lunch breaks, for which Fabricom had cleared out its entire overhead storage area. The day concluded with a humorous yet passionate presentation by well-known Belgian politician Marc van Peel, who discussed the past, present and future of the Harbour at Antwerp.

Emerson Process Management released the new Fisher Type N863 Snappy Joe Emergency Shutoff Railcar Valve with up to twice the flow rate of the previous N562, offering a significant reduction in propane railcar loading/unloading time.The Fisher railcar valve was originally developed more than 30 years ago and is the first and only Emergency Shutoff Valve (ESV) specifically designed for railcars in the propane industry.

Emerson has signed an agreement to purchase Virgo Valves and Controls, a ball valves and automation systems manufacturer based in Pune, India.

Emerson Process Management’s DeltaV digital automation system, featuring electronic marshalling with the characterisation modules (CHARMs) technology, has been widely adopted by oil and gas, refining, and chemical industry customers, strongly supporting business growth for the past two years.
