Tyco opens its largest ball valve plant
Tyco International unit, Tyco Flow Control opened a new state-of-the-art plant in Chengdu, China, the capital of Sichuan Province in May. The plant is part of Tyco's three-year, USD$100 million China-wide investment program, including a China Engineering Center in Shanghai and a high-performance Steam Testing Center in Qingpu.
Velan awarded Chinese nuclear valve contracts
In a contract worth $16.2 million, Velan SAS, Velan Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary located in Lyon, France, has been selected by CNPE (China Nuclear Power Engineering Co, Ltd.) and as a result, the CNEIC (China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation) awarded an important contract to Velan for the supply of nuclear-classified gate and globe valves for the two new nuclear power plants of FuQing Units 3 and 4 located in Fujian province, China.
PDVSA and PetroChina launch refinery project
Chinese oil major PetroChina and Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA have signed an agreement to co-develop a refinery in China's Guandong province. The Nanhai refinery is to have a capacity of 500,000 b/d when it begins operations in early 2015.

China's State Council has approved a plan for the Singapore Asian Paper and Pulp Co. and the Ningbo Asia Paper Industry Co. to build a 1 million-ton containerboard manufacturing plant.
