Lockout ended at Velan’s Montreal factories
The 400 employees from three Montreal factories belonging to the industrial valve maker, Velan, are no longer locked out and are now back at work.
On Friday June 5, 2015, the Fédération de l’industrie manufacturière, a CSN-affiliated union, announced that its Montreal members voted 62 per cent in favour of a deal proposed by mediator Louise Létourneau.

Pulp mill shutting down for valve repairs, etc.
The Northern Pulp mill located in Abercrombie Point, Nova Scotia is planning a 15-day maintenance shutdown on May 30th, to install a new electrostatic precipitator. But the mill’s general manager, Bruce Chapman, has said it will not restart until the precipitator is operational, which could be in late June or early July.
