Air Liquide, a French industrial gas supplier and service company, is building a $140 million USD air separation project in Bay City, Texas.

Essentra Components, a provider of various components parts for a range of industries, has created a custom-made product for Air Liquide, who required a cap solution for the valves of its Argon gas bottles.

Airgas recently agreed to be acquired by French competitor Air Liquide for USD $143 a share, over 100% higher than the 2011 offer it fended off. The cash deal values Airgas at $13.4 billion when including its outstanding debt, and brings together two complementary businesses.

Air Liquide Canada announced the construction of a new oxygen pipeline in Hamilton, Ontario, with the support of Horizon Utilities and the Ontario Power Authority’s saveONenergy Program. The pipeline will be built between Air Liquide’s air separation complex and the ArcelorMittal Dofasco plant in Hamilton, Canada’s largest flat rolled steelmaking facility.

Air Liquide will invest around EUR 40M in a new Air Separation Unit (ASU) that will supply Klabin, Brazil’s biggest paper manufacturer, with oxygen. The new ASU will supply more than 160t of oxygen per day to Klabin’s new factory located in Ortigueira, as well as to Klabin’s other site in Telêmaco Borba, both located in the state of Paraná.
