Canadian engineering major SNC-Lavalin recently announced that the company has completed the acquisition of British engineering consultancy firm Atkins.
The company expects that the combined professional services and project management company will be able to ward off competition from its rivals worldwide with its array of services – including capital investment, consulting, design, engineering, construction, sustaining capital and operations and maintenance.
The merged entity will command a global workforce of over 50,000 employees. In a press release, SNC-Lavalin said that it believes the acquisition will help to increase its customer base, geographic reach and scale, as well as strengthen its global position in the infrastructure, rail & transit, nuclear and renewables markets.
