Shell unveils LNG bunkering vessel design

Royal Dutch Shell, a global oil and gas company with locations throughout the Americas, has unveiled the design of its new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel, which it says has been developed as a response to a need for more LNG infrastructure and reliable supply chain.

The specialized 6,500 cubic metre (cbm) LNG bunker vessel has the capacity to supply 1,000 cbm of LNG per hour. With a specialized loading arm, it is designed to provide safe bunkering to a wide range of ships, from small coastal to large transatlantic ships.

“It will be the biggest seagoing LNG bunker vessel with high maneuverability and will open up a new market in the marine transport industry,” said a representative of Shell.
