SGS has been awarded a three-year contract to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical and mechanical instrumentation at two major petrochemical facilities in Brazil: Terminal Marítimo Almirante Soares Dutra and Terminal de Rio Grande. The project is scheduled to be completed over three years, running from March 17, 2015 until March 15, 2018.
Consisting of 19 tanks with a total capacity of 789,513m3, Terminal Marítimo Almirante Soares Dutra receives oil, petrochemical naphtha and condensate, and exports diesel and gasoline, whereas Terminal de Rio Grande consists of 22 tanks, with a total storage capacity of 64,000m3, two skids for biodiesel storage and a planned installation of nine vessels for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage.
SGS was selected to provide onsite maintenance of all motors, valves, tools, pipes and boilers in both terminals. The company will manage the entire process, including the qualification of the technical team, monitoring service quality, and optimizing equipment maintenance time.
SGS will provide a total of 59 employees for the project – 51 industrial maintenance engineering professionals, including supervisors, electrical and instrumentation technicians, mechanical, truck and crane operators, boilermakers, welders and 8 administration staff.
