Rotork electric actuator for turbine preheating

The Rotork CVA electric actuator has been specified for critical valve-control duty on high-temperature gas turbine pre-heater equipment. For supply to the power-generation industry, the CVA actuators are installed on skid-mounted units supplied to Riyadh PP11 power plant project in Saudi Arabia. To control the preheated temperature of fuel gas for electricity-generating turbines, the application requires unrestricted modulation of a three-way valve. The gas is heated by passing through a chamber surrounded by a 185ºC oil bath on its way to the turbines. Atex-certified and explosion-proof, each actuator moves a valve to control heat output using a 4020mA control signal. Predictive maintenance capabilities are offered through an integral data logger that facilitates valve diagnostics. The actuators are said to give responsive and precise valve positional control and the double-sealed CVA design offers permanent environmental protection to IP68.
