Safety is ThermOmegaTech’s highest priority. For this reason, they have designed anti-scald devices to prevent water temperatures in emergency equipment from reaching unsafe levels, which can potentially cause severe and long-term damage to facility workers.
To avoid scalding or a worsened chemical reaction due to personnel being exposed to excessively hot water, ThermOmegaTech® has developed self-operating scald protection valves to automatically purge the over-temperature water. Since these valves are only open when the sensed water and/or air temperature is above the valve’s set-point, typically 95°F, water waste is minimized.
Scald protection valves not only ensure the safe operation of emergency equipment but also help to ensure compliance with ANSI Z358.1 tepid water requirements. ThermOmegaTech’s HAT/SP and IC/SP thermostatic valves are completely mechanical making them the ideal solutions to safeguard your safety showers and eye/facewash stations from scalding personnel.
HAT/SP valves installed in the standard flow direction are initially ambient temperature sensing. Once flow is established the valve responds to water temperature. When installed in reverse flow orientation, the valves are always water temperature sensing. This would be ideal in a circulating tempered water loop.
IC/SP valves are purely water temperature sensitive. The thermal actuator is always wetted and is preferable for heat traced lines where scald protection flow is not required unless heat tracing fails. IC/SP valves are installed within the heated system.
