Equinor with its partners, ExxonMobil Brasil, Petrogal Brasil (JV Galp|Sinopec), and Pré-sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) has begun production at the Bacalhau field in Brazil.
Bacalhau is located in the pre-salt region of the Santos Basin in water exceeding 2,000 meters. It’s the largest international offshore field from Equinor with reserves exceeding one billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
The field features one of the most modern Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) in the world. It spans 370 meters long and 64 meters wide. The vessel has a production capacity of 220,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
Phase 1 development consists of 19 wells, producers and injectors. They will go online in sequence as the company ramps up and sustains production. Equinor will be positioned to provide an update in 2026 during the ramp-up phase.
