Premier Equipment has named Gavin Sankar as the recipient of the 2025 Premier Equipment CNC Scholarship. Sankar, a mechanical engineering student at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, will receive $2,000 toward his continued education.
The scholarship program is devised for students pursuing careers in manufacturing, machining, and engineering fields. The initiative was established to address concerns about skilled labor shortages in U.S. manufacturing and invest in the next generation of machinists and engineers.
The skilled trades gap remains a pressing challenge for U.S. manufacturers. Recent industry reports indicate nearly 2.1 million manufacturing jobs could go unfilled by 2030 due to retirements and insufficient workforce entrants. Applications for the 2026 scholarship will open in February 2026. Students that are applicable for the scholarship are encouraged to apply.
