Petrobras has announced that it has acquired 50% of the capital stock of BSBIOS Indústria e Comércio de Biodiesel Sul Brasil S.A. through its wholly-owned subsidiary Petrobras Biocombustível S.A. – Pbio. The company, located in Passo Fundo (Rio Grande do Sul – RS), operates a biodiesel plant with integrated vegetable oil extraction unit and biodiesel production capacity of 160 million ltrs/yr.
It has a privileged location in terms of grain supply and biodiesel marketing, since it is sited next to a fuel distribution base and a railroad terminal for receiving grain and dispatching its output. The transaction involves an outlay of approximately BRL 200 million, subject to adjustment depending on the outcome of the due diligence process.
