In the morning conference “Las mañaneras del pueblo” (The people’s morning sessions) led by Mexican President Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and joined by Luz Elena González Escobar, MSc, Secretary of Energy, the CEO of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Dr. Víctor Rodríguez Padilla outlined the Work Plan for 2025-2030 that will make it possible to bolster the country’s energy independence for the benefit of the people.

Rodríguez Padilla reported that, thanks to the Constitutional Reform, Pemex will operate under six key functions: efficient resource production, ensuring energy security, supporting social welfare, strengthening the national economy, environmental responsibility, and promoting clean energy.

Within the framework of this strategic plan, actions will be implemented to increase oil and gas reserves with the aim of guaranteeing at least ten years of supply. 269 exploratory wells will be drilled in six key projects. Seismic studies will also be carried out over an area of 38,000 square kilometres and 220 billion pesos will be invested in exploration activities. The goal of this effort is to locate a total of 2 billion barrels of oil in the subsoil.
