National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) President Charles T. Drevna has issued a statement supporting proposed legislation that would require the Obama administration to decide by November 1st whether to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would transport oil from western Canada to refineries in Texas. The House Energy and Commerce Committee is holding a hearing on May 24, 2011 on the proposed legislation, which is backed by Keystone XL supporters who want to get construction of the pipeline started. The new pipeline, combined with an existing pipeline, would bring more than 1.1 million barrels of oil each day to the United States from oil sands in Alberta.
