Methanol plant to move from Chile to Louisiana

The world’s largest supplier of methanol to the major international market, Methanex Corporation, has awarded Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. A contract to provide engineering services for a potential methanol production facility in Louisiana. The plant would be relocated from Chile and could be operating in the second half of 2014.

Believing the U.S. Gulf Coast to be a prime location for a methanol facility, Jacobs is executing site-specific engineering in Geismar, LA for the 225 acre location. The project is expected to create a number of direct and indirect employment opportunities with the demand for methanol projected to increase in the future.
