The Materials Technology Institute (MTI) in cooperation with KCI Publishing are organizing a two-day Conference devoted to the topic of ‘Managing Aging Plants’, from November 9th to 10th, 2016 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, USA.
Conference Chairman, Cody Kell of 3M, encourages industry members to attend:
“On behalf of MTI and KCI World, I am pleased to announce the 2016 Managing Aging Plants Conference and Expo. True to its name, this event will address and highlight important issues that inevitably arise when operating plants that are nearing or have reached their original design life expectancies. This event is the first to be held in North America, but follows on the heels of two successful events held in Germany and Japan.
As a materials and metallurgical engineer, I often engage with aging-related issues involving corrosion, inspection, and maintenance. Although many of these issues can be addressed using sound facts, data, and judgment, optimal solutions are rarely determined in a vacuum. Most of my successes as a young engineer have come through the guidance of mentors and collaboration with peers. The planning of Managing Aging Plants is no exception, as I am joined by a steering committee of 15 Process Industry representatives who bring a wealth of experience and insight into the real issues we all face. I see this event as an excellent chance to continue learning and collaborating with peers as well as gaining a better understanding of the impact of plant aging in the broader industrial community.
Managing Aging Plants comes at a time when many companies in the Chemical Process, Oil and Gas, and Refining Industries are facing common challenges with their aging plant assets. This conference and expo will provide a great opportunity to hear from experts, network with others, and ultimately broaden our awareness of the industry-wide problems and solutions. I am excited to be involved in the Managing Aging Plants Conference and Expo, and I look forward to seeing you all in Houston, Texas this fall.”
