Major Alberta oil sands project awarded

SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a $650 million plus contract by a major oil sands mining producer to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a froth treatment plant near Fort McMurray. The froth treatment plant will process 155,000 bpd of feedstock from the bitumen extraction plant. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2012, and completion of the mechanical portion of the plant is expected in September 2014.
