ISA awards innovator for new valve technology

The International Society of Automation (ISA), which is based in North Carolina, has awarded a Pune-based innovator the Excellence in Technician Innovation. Satish Pathak’s innovation, called Digital Controlled Valve for Precise Liquid Dispensing by Gravity flow, is a step change technology in industrial valves, according to Pathak.

Pathak decided to work on a valve to address the problems of non-flexibility and wastage. Industries have to invest for separate set ups in order to deal with different liquids. “My innovation solves this problem and also increases the efficiency of the process. Moreover, there is an overall reduction in wastage in our set up,” he said. Pathak holds a patent for this innovation and further improvements on the valve are being undertaken. The valve, he said, could be both retrofitted in an existing set up or can be used for a new project.
