Importance of cast-iron design

Wandfluh AG, headquartered out of Switzerland but with locations throughout North America, has recently revamped its NG10 line of hydraulic spool valves based on a cast-iron design that is used for both direct- and pilot-operated valves. All valves in the range are capable of system pressures to 350 bar (5,000 psi) and some can operate at levels to 420 bar (6,000 psi).

Emphasis was placed on the symmetrical design of the valve in order for the valves to exhibit the same flow and pressure characteristics in both operating directions.

The valves are fitted with exchangeable slip-on coils, which are available with different types of connectors, electrical power and surface treatments. All are available with special design features, such as explosion protection, increased corrosion resistance, switching position monitoring, and operation in low temperatures.
