Hydroelectric projects started in Panama

Panama has commenced construction of 16 hydroelectric projects worth $1billion in a bid to meet the nation’s growing power demand. The projects are being delivered by the private companies and are expected to add a 700MW capacity to the country’s power grid. Zelmar Rodriguez, manager of The National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) which regulates and monitors the provision of utilities in the nation, said the projects are expected to be completed by 2015.
