Hydro One substation order won by ABB

Power and automation technology group, ABB has won a major order from Ontario,
 
 
Canada power transmission and distribution utility, Hydro One Networks Inc. to supply an indoor gas-insulated switchgear substation, outdoors switchyard with air-insulated switchgear and associated transmission infrastructure. The new substations will connect the existing Portlands Energy Center generation center to enhance grid reliability and will replace an existing installation from the 1950s to serve Toronto, Canada’s largest city.
 
 
As part of the turnkey contract, ABB will supply 115kilovolt gas-insulated and air-insulated switchgear, transformers, cables and surge arresters and will be responsible for system studies, engineering, design, supply and installation of the substation, including civil works.
 
Completion is expected for 2013.
